„Health education" between pedagogics and medicine - trends in topics and problems of professionalization in Germany, 1770-1930

In dem vorliegenden Beitrag werden anhand ausgewählter Literatur Themen- und Methodenkonjunkturen der schulischen Gesundheitserziehung seit dem 18. Jahrhundert diskursgeschichtlich rekonstruiert. Die Analyse demonstriert die bereits diskursimmanent deutlich werdenden konkurrierenden Professionsinteressen von Pädagogen und Medizinern und ihre Wirkung auf gesundheitserzieherische Vorstellungen und Programme. Des weiteren wird für den Zeitraum von 1770 bis 1930 ein Phasierungsmodell vorgeschlagen, das in Abhängigkeit von der wechselnden Dominanz von Pädagogik und Medizin im wissenschaftlichen Diskurs zugleich die inhaltlichen und (unterrichts-)methodischen Eigenarten schulisch-gesundheitserzieherischer Konzeptionen zu erschließen vermag. (DIPF/Orig.)On the basis of selected literature, the author reconstructs the trends in topics and methods in the discourse on health education in school since the eighteenth Century. The analysis reveals the competing interests of the pedagogical and the medical profession, already apparent within the discourse, and their effect on conceptions and programs of health education. Furthermore, the author proposes a model for subdividing the period from 1770 to 1930 into individual phases; this allows to infer from the scientific discourse the peculiarities of conceptions of health instruction in school with regard to both content and methods as a function of the changing dominance of pedagogics and medicine.
